How we select which cases we will take? Areas We Serve

Falsani, Balmer, Peterson, Quinn & Beyer firm typically represents only bodily injury victims and injured individuals needing help with their workers' compensation claims.  Members of our law firm also handle Social Security Disability and Long-term Disability Insurance claims.

We use the terms:

  • “Bodily injury" to mean physical and emotional injury suffered by someone through the fault or carelessness of another whether through automobile collision, careless failure to safely maintain property or design and sale of a dangerous product.
  • “Workers' compensation" to mean any injury sustained in the course and scope of employment, regardless of whose fault the injury is;
  • "Social security disability" to mean eligibility for disability benefits by someone who has paid social security taxes over the years of employment; and
  • "Long-term disability insurance" to mean eligibility for private disability insurance benefits, regardless of whether the disability results from a work injury, arising out of insurance purchased through work.  Our lawyers will handle any valid claims within any of these areas in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

We will represent any client possessing a "winnable" claim.  A "winnable" claim is one in which our client might prevail at trial if efforts to settle the claim out of court fail.  Other law firms will only accept cases that cannot be lost, justifying their caution by noting their overhead costs and the need to be successful financially.  Such lawyers are businesspeople, more interested in their own profits than in helping people who need legal representation.  We are lawyers, and so will represent anyone needing legal representation for a reasonable claim.

Falsani, Balmer, Peterson, Quinn & Beyer does not handle commercial, contract, building, property loss, employment discrimination or other kinds of non-bodily injury claims.  We do not handle medical malpractice or federal workers' compensation claims.  The practice of law has become so highly specialized that each one of these areas of practice requires its own set of specialized knowledge and experience, just as workers' compensation and bodily injury litigation, the areas in which we specialize.  When one of our clients needs help in one of these other areas of practice outside our fields, we can arrange a referral or association with an attorney who is knowledgeable and experienced in the particular specialty area.

Our lawyers handle cases in the state and federal courts of Minnesota and Wisconsin.  When one of our clients needs help with a case in some other state outside Minnesota or Wisconsin, we can arrange a referral or association with an attorney experienced in handling the claim in the state in question.

It is not unusual for someone contacting Falsani, Balmer, Peterson, Quinn & Beyer to have more than one kind of claim in more than one place or court.  Examples include people with both a workers' compensation claim and a third-party bodily injury claim, as well as a social security disability claim and a long-term disability claim; or, someone with both an automobile bodily injury claim and a Minnesota no-fault insurance claim with an underinsured motorist claim.  Because of a well-founded fear of some sort of detail being overlooked when more than one law firm represents the same individual client, we strongly encourage those thinking of contacting us for legal advice to have all their legal claims handled by only one law firm, whether it is our law firm or another one.  In some instances, we will decline to represent someone who has another law firm handling another part of their legal affairs because of the fear that multiple law firms representing the same person in many claims increases the risk of a mistake or error being made.

Our lawyers have handled all kinds of bodily injury claims in Minnesota and Wisconsin courts, both state and federal; Admiralty claims; Longshoreman and Harborworker claims; Federal Employer Liability Act (railroad worker) claims; SSDI/SSI claims across Minnesota and Wisconsin, Wisconsin Safe Place Statute claims and workers' compensation claims in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Because of our wide breadth of experience and expertise in so many different kinds of bodily injury and workers' compensation claims, we are able to offer prospective clients extremely high-quality legal advice in many different kinds of complex claims many other law firms cannot manage adequately.  Since 1975, our lawyers have handled well over 15,000 such claims; in most of those claims we have obtained a favorable outcome for our client.
